Combating Stress With a Full Body Cleanse

Posted on: September 28, 2011

Most of us, by modern necessity, live hectic, stress-filled lives. And most of us don't use a full body cleanse to offset the deleterious effects of stress. But for people exercising and trying to get in shape, trying to lose fat and build muscle, it's almost a necessity today.

Actually, your physiological responses to stress are a good thing—in the right circumstances. It's your body's fight-or-flight response to certain stimuli that helps you survive. Most of the time, though, we don't have any aggressive neighboring clans to fight over food, and we don't have any mammoths to flee from. So the substances you body produces aren't able to do their job and have effects other than what your body intended.

When confronted by situations that cause anxiety or fear or anger, you react, usually involuntarily—it just happens, whether you will it or not. The result of that reaction is your body's production of certain hormones that prepare you to run away or engage in battle. The hormone we want to consider here is cortisol.

Cortisol is produced by the adrenal glands and is one of a group of hormones called glucocorticoids owing to their ability to increase blood glucose levels. When you experience stress and cortisol is produced and blood glucose increases, you have an insulin response. And after a long period of this, insulin sensitivity decreases, which can lead to diabetes. A concomitant result is that you put on more fat.

Further, cortisol is catabolic, which means that it decreases muscle mass, the very opposite of what you're trying to achieve by working out. So, if you're trying to get in shape and lose fat and build muscle, you have to find a way to use or prevent or get rid of the excessive cortisol. You probably won't find any saber-toothed tigers to run from, and learning how to deal differently with stressful situations takes much practice and considerable time. Let's look, then, at what you can do to counteract and eliminate the toxic unneeded cortisol.

This is where a full body cleanse comes in to help your liver and excretory organs deal with the hormones, cortisol in particular, produced as a result of stress. (We won't even get into all the damaging toxins you absorb every day from your environment and ingest with your food.) Cortisol is a long-acting hormone produced in response to stress. When your liver and kidneys become unable to process it efficiently, it and other related toxins begin to build up in other organs, in muscle tissue, and in fat cells. It accumulates and results in, among many other conditions, liver and kidney overload, fatigue, weight gain, moodiness, and insomnia. The answer is a quality body cleanse program that can flush these toxic substances from your body and restore hormonal balance.

The 21 Day Body Makeover is a body cleanse program that not only detoxifies your body, but also promotes fat loss, restores energy, replaces lost nutrients, and balances hormones. Because it contains bio-identical elements—ingredients often lacking in many other body cleansers on the market—that contribute to specific nutritional needs brought on by stress reactions, the 21 Day Body Makeover is a complete body-makeover program.
